Itinerary

DAY 1:

Cusco City – Abra Malaga Pass – Biking – Rafting – Santa Maria Town – Lodge Stay

Start this 3-day adventure pick you from hotel in Cusco around 6 AM easy morning pick up. We drive through Sacred Valley of the Incas beautiful valley you see. Cusco city high place 11200 feet (3400 meters) altitude you know.

You see nice towns small villages around Vilcabamba and Vilcanota mountains big mountains around. Also we visit Chinchero local town see how people live traditional. After two hours drive we stop at Inca village Ollantaytambo town nice place. Ollantaytambo around 9160 feet (2792 meters) altitude stop for break. You can walk around little bit stretch your legs take breath fresh air. If you hungry you can eat breakfast at Peruvian restaurant in Ollantaytambo try local food maybe.

After Ollantaytambo stop we keep driving up to Abra Malaga Pass very high place. Abra Malaga Pass 14270 feet (4350m) altitude cold up there bring jacket yeah. There we get ready get bikes helmets safety gear.

Guide give you bike lesson safety instructions. Then start biking downhill crazy ride 50 kilometers fast downhill with amazing view snow mountain Veronica Peak really beautiful. Cycle over Andes mountains something else biking here.

Next after biking we have private van transport from HumanMarka area to Santa Maria town lower down. Santa Maria town 3937 feet (1200 m) altitude warm jungle weather now. We eat good lunch at our Lodge/Hotel in Santa Maria town stay night here comfortable place.

Afternoon time we offer rafting on Vilcanota River very fun adventure. Also our tour guide give you all safety equipment you need helmets life jackets wind breakers all safe no worry. You can do rafting April to December good time for river rafting. Wet season river strong more exciting if you like.

People who do rafting must know how to swim yeah Peruvian law important.

Evening time we go back to Our Lodge / Hotel Santa Maria town eat delicious dinner food good. After dinner relax comfortable rooms recharge for next day adventures.

Start day two wake up early 6 AM coffee cup ready for you Our Lodge in Santa Maria town give you coffee to wake up good. Eat breakfast after coffee prepare for action day full of fun.

Around 6:30 AM we have private transport about one hour drive from Our Lodge to zipline place. After quick safety talk instructions you start exciting 2-hour zipline adventure. Four different ziplines fly through air and suspension bridge walk across hanging bridge fun views.

After zipline fun finished you take one hour drive to Hidroelectrica station place for lunch. Eat good lunch Hidroelectrica restaurant food tasty. After lunch start beautiful hike three hours walk by train tracks to Aguas Calientes town Machu Picchu town. Hidroelectrica station around 6561 feet (2000 meters) altitude.

Around 7 PM 19:00 time eat great dinner local restaurant in Aguas Calientes town many good places to eat. Before go back to hotel for good night sleep relax body. Wake up early next day excited to visit Machu Picchu Inca wonder.

Arriving at Machu Picchu Main Gate from Aguas Calientes Town:

You have two options get from Aguas Calientes town up to Machu Picchu main gate entrance.

Choice one you can hike walk up beautiful trail one and half hours walk little bit uphill hard but good views. Choice two take bus easy quick ride about 12 dollars one way ticket. You choose what you like better even day of Machu Picchu visit you decide no problem change mind. No matter what you choose morning start 4 AM breakfast hotel Aguas Calientes town eat strong breakfast for energy day.

If you want walk from Aguas Calientes town to Machu Picchu hike start around 4:30 AM morning early. Start walk from your hotel in Aguas Calientes town to Puente Ruinas bridge check point about 30 minutes’ walk easy. Puente Ruinas check point first place you show Machu Picchu tickets original passports for check entry. After Puente Ruinas check point start uphill walk to Machu Picchu city Inca city about 1700 steps many steps uphill.

This uphill walk takes about one hour maybe one hour twenty minutes’ walk depends how fast you go. When you arrive at Machu Picchu main gate entrance you meet group and guide ready to start amazing tour through this historic Inca fortress Machu Picchu wonder.

Be at Aguas Calientes train station by 4:22 PM get on train arrive Cusco city around 8:30 PM night time. Or you can take later train 6:20 PM train arrive Ollantaytambo town one hour 45 minutes train ride. From Ollantaytambo town take van two hours drive to Cusco city arrive around 10:30 PM evening.

Option 2: Go Back to Cusco City by Car Bus – Cheaper Option

Go back Cusco city by car bus more cheap way save money but less time Machu Picchu visit. If you hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain maybe not enough time this option tight schedule.

To take car bus option you leave Machu Picchu around midday middle of day walk hike three hours to Hidroelectrica station walking down. And take car bus waiting for you by 2:30 PM waiting time. Best way stays extra night Aguas Calientes town no rush relaxes more. And drive back to Cusco city next day four for better experience enjoy trip no hurry.
