Manu Cultural Zone trip 4 days. You start in Cusco city then we go through cloud forest Paucartambo town and Pilcopata town. First night we camp in Pilcopata area cool jungle spot. Next morning we eat breakfast at Pilcopata lodge then we keep going to Atalaya. Atalaya port is really something landscape is wow. Afternoon time we get to Paititi Lodge for second night stay jungle lodge.

Day three we visit Collpa de Loros you know Parrot Clay Lick birds everywhere colors so many and Cocha Maravilla lake Marvelous Lake really nice. After that we go back to Paititi Lodge for third night jungle stay. Next morning day four you eat breakfast one last time jungle style then we go back to Cusco. Trip finish Manu Cultural Zone unforgettable really.

Itinerary

DAY 1:

CUSCO CITY CLOUD FOREST HIKE JUNGLE BEGINS

Between 5:30 and 6:00 AM guide pick you up your hotel company van ready. From there we go up winding roads Andes mountains villages small towns until jungle entrance Ajanaco Pass 11482 feet high (3500m). From this point we go down through cloud forest really green place. Cloud forest full of crazy plants orchids heliconias ferns big trees. Time in cloud forest maybe we see Cock of the Rock bird very special umbrella bird trogon quetzal oropendolas bird names yeah. Finally we get to lodge relax sleep first night jungle.

DAY 2:

ATALAYA PORT MACHUWASI LAKE ANIMALS NIGHT WALK

After breakfast jungle style we take walk nature path see birds monkeys around lodge area. Then we take bus one hour to Atalaya port river port. Atalaya Port around 1837 feet high (560 meters) altitude. From Atalaya we go boat 30 minutes to our lodge river trip. Along river way maybe swim river or mud bath natural mud good for skin they say. After lunch at lodge we go raft in Machuhuasi Lake. Machuhuasi Lake see shanshos birds monkeys reptiles small caimans big capybaras tapirs maybe more animals many things to see. After dinner night time we do night hike jungle sounds night animals come out. Night stay lodge private bathrooms showers good comfort.

DAY 3:

PARROT CLAY LICK CEIBA TREE BIG TREE NIGHT HIKE AGAIN

Early morning dawn time we go boat to parrot clay lick. Parrot Clay Lick see many parrots birds colors eating clay wall. Birds eat clay good for them nutrients. After parrot time we go back lodge breakfast rest little bit. Then we go trails explore jungle more plants animals. See biggest tree thickest tree Ceiba tree really tall. Maybe spot monkeys reptiles small caimans capybaras or tapirs animals around trails. End of day night time we do night hike again different focus insects amphibians snakes if we lucky night creatures. Night stay lodge same lodge.

DAY 4:

JUNGLE HIKE ATALAYA PORT CLOUD FOREST BACK TO CUSCO

Morning time we explore trail last time see jungle wildlife one more chance. Later after good breakfast we go boat back to Atalaya port. From Atalaya we take van back to Cusco city long drive. On the way back we see hummingbirds orchids waterfalls mountain views maybe birds monkeys again cloud forest animals. After leave jungle behind we go through mountains Andes spectacular views big mountains. Evening time we arrive Cusco city between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM plaza Regocijo drop off city center finish trip.
