Itinerary

DAY 1:

Cusco - Abra Malaga Pass - Biking - Rafting - Santa Maria Town - Eco Terra Lodge

Start this 4-day adventure we pick you up hotel in Cusco around 6 in morning yeah easy pick up. We drive through Sacred Valley of the Incas beautiful valley. Cusco is high up you know 11200 feet (3400 meters).

You see nice towns small villages in Vilcabamba and Vilcanota mountain ranges big mountains. Also we visit Chinchero local town very traditional. After two hours drive we stop at Inca village Ollantaytambo town. Ollantaytambo around 9160 feet (2792 meters) altitude. There you can walk around stretch legs relax little bit. If you want you can eat breakfast at Peruvian restaurant in Ollantaytambo town try local food.

After Ollantaytambo stop we keep going to Abra Malaga Pass. Abra Malaga Pass is really high 14270 feet (4350m) altitude cold up there! There you get ready get bike lesson safety talk. Then start biking downhill 50 kilometers long ride fast downhill with amazing view snow mountain Veronica Peak. Cycle over Andes mountains crazy ride.

Next up we take private van transport from HumanMarka place to Santa Maria town. Santa Maria is much lower down 3937 feet (1200 m) altitude warmer now. We eat good lunch at our hotel in Santa Maria town stay night here.

Afternoon time we offer rafting on Vilcanota River very exciting. Also our guide give you safety stuff helmets wind breakers Level 5 life jackets all safe equipment. You can do rafting adventure April to December good time for rafting. Wet season river is more strong you know.

Evening time we go back to Santa Maria town eat delicious dinner hotel again. After dinner relax comfortable hotel room rest for next day adventure.

After good breakfast hotel we drive 45 minutes up little bit to start next adventure. We stop few times see native plants animals very nice nature around trail.

We visit local organic coffee farm in mountain area. There you learn about Peruvian coffee culture how they grow coffee pick coffee different types coffee chocolate too tasty.

Next we keep going on real Inca trails old paths Incas used long time ago. We hike one hour on Inca trail then walk farmer trails to Huaka Yupana small village.

In this village Huaka Yupana we have local Peruvian Andean lunch cooked by local people. We stay in village about one and half hours eat lunch relax. You can learn about Andes life from local people take photos with them friendly people.

After traditional Peruvian lunch we start climb uphill for 40 minutes little bit hard. We get to hanging bridge cool bridge cross river. After bridge cross river we keep going to place where we use cable cars small cable car to cross another river exciting. This cable car take us to Cocalmayo Hot Springs relax time hot water spring baths.

After hot spring bath relax body we go to Santa Teresa town. Santa Teresa town around 4921 feet (1500 meters) altitude. In Santa Teresa town we have comfortable 2-star hotel rooms good hotel. There you can sleep good eat nice dinner get ready for next day fun adventure.

Same like morning before you wake up early morning have good coffee breakfast hotel again. Then we start ZIP LINE activity very fun. ZIP LINE company they come to hotel pick you up take you to zipline place adventure spot. There you can do ZIP LINE activities flying through air fun adrenaline.

After two hours amazing zipline adventure activities we take you to Hidroelectrica station. First we eat lunch there restaurant near station. Then we start hike walk by train tracks to Aguas Calientes town. Hidroelectrica station is around 6561 feet (2000 meters) altitude. Aguas Calientes is around 6699 feet (2042 meters) altitude close to Machu Picchu.

When we get to Aguas Calientes town we walk to your hotel. In hotel you can shower relax have dinner and get ready for next amazing day Machu Picchu day.

Arriving at Machu Picchu Main Gate from Aguas Calientes town:

You got two choices to go from Aguas Calientes town to Machu Picchu main gate entrance.

Choice one you can walk uphill stunning hike one and half hours long little hard. Choice two take bus easy ride about 12 dollars one way ticket. You choose what you want even day of Machu Picchu visit decide no problem. No matter what you choose day start early 4 AM breakfast hotel in Aguas Calientes town eat good breakfast energy for day.

If you want walk from Aguas Calientes town to Machu Picchu walking adventure start around 4:30 AM. First walk from hotel in Aguas Calientes town to Puente Ruinas bridge check point about 30 minutes walk. Puente Ruinas check point is first place show Machu Picchu tickets original passports for entry. After Puente Ruinas check point you start uphill climb to Machu Picchu city about 1700 steps many steps up.

This uphill walk take about one hour to one hour twenty minutes. When you arrive at Machu Picchu main gate entrance you meet group and guide start incredible tour through this historic Inca fortress city.

If you thinking about hiking mountains more hikes we say take train back to Cusco city more time for Machu Picchu more relax. If you want come back Cusco cheaper way car bus we say stay one more night in Aguas Calientes town. And leave next day day five from Hidroelectrica station by car bus. This way you have good time enjoy Machu Picchu mountains no rush make most of trip.

Option 1: Go Back to Cusco City by Train

Train back to Cusco city nice ride good views more time Machu Picchu. If you do Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain hikes take many hours train good option.

Be at Aguas Calientes train station by 4:22 PM to take train train arrive Cusco city around 8:30 PM. Or take later train 6:20 PM arrive Ollantaytambo town one hour 45 minutes ride. From Ollantaytambo town you take van two hours drive to Cusco city arrive about 10:30 PM night time.

Option 2: Go Back to Cusco City by Car or Bus

Go back to Cusco city car bus cheaper way less money but less time Machu Picchu. If you hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain maybe not enough time this option.

To take car bus option leave Machu Picchu around midday middle of day walk three hours to Hidroelectrica station. And take car bus by 2:30 PM waiting for you. Best way stay one extra night Aguas Calientes town relax more. And drive back to Cusco city day five next day better experience no rush.
